On Day 2 of the Twelve Days of Christmas, I showcased a card I created using the Decorative Trees Bundle. Today, I’m excited to share a beautiful ornament crafted with the same versatile dies. This bundle offers an incredible variety of dies, making it perfect for all sorts of holiday projects. Here are just a few of the dies I used to bring this ornament to life—take a look!
Directions for Making a Christmas Tree Ornament
Follow these simple steps and refer to the accompanying pictures to create a festive Christmas tree ornament:
- Die-Cut the Trees
- Use the Decorative Trees dies to cut out several trees of your choice. You will need two trees for each ornament.
- Prepare the Cardstock Strip
- Cut a strip of cardstock to 1″ x 7″.
- Score the strip lengthwise at 1/4″ and 3/4″.
- Rotate the strip and score across the width at 2-1/2“, 4″, and 6-1/2“.
- Create Triangles from the Strip
- At each score line, make slits up to the first long score line.
- Cut angles on both sides of each slit to form small triangles. Be sure to also trim angles on the ends of the long strip (refer to pictures).
- Fold and Assemble the Base
- Fold the strip along the score lines to create a triangle shape.
- Adhere the ends together to secure the triangle.
- Add a Hanging Loop
- Create a hole at the top of the triangle using a tool like the Take Your Pick Tool.
- Thread a piece of Baker’s Twine through the hole and tie it into a knot to form a loop for hanging.
- Attach the Trees
- Apply adhesive to one side of the triangle and attach one of the die-cut trees.
- Flip the triangle over and repeat on the other side with the second tree.
Your ornament is now complete! Hang it on your tree or use it as a festive gift topper.
Wow! These are so pretty!
Thanks Eliza! There are so many possibilities with these dies! If I had more time, I would have made many more! lol
