I’m so excited to share with you the card I designed for September’s Color Challenge! Each month, my team leader inspires us to create a project using just 3 colors. I’m not gonna lie… sometimes that is harder than it looks! I usually want to add at least one more color! This months colors are Orchid Oasis, Old Olive, and Mango Melody. As soon as I saw I these colors I thought about our Pansy Patch stamp set! This is a Two-Step Stamp set which allows you to layer two images to add dimension to your project. This set also has coordinating dies and when purchasing them as a bundle you can save 10%! Growing up, my parents always had pansies and I loved them because of the beautiful purples that were in them!
For this card I started with thick Basic White cardstock cut to 4 1/4″ x 8 1/2″ for the base. The first layer of Basic White is cut to 4″ x 5 1/4″ and then embossed using the Timeworn Type 3D folder and glued to the base. A piece of Mango Melody cardstock is cut to 3 1/8″ x 4 3/8″ and another Basic White layer is cut to 3″ x 4 1/4″. I stamped the flower on scrap white using Orchid Oasis by “stamping off” the first image and then stamping the second image full on. I also “stamped off” the inside image and used Mango Melody to stamp the middle of the flower. For the leaves, I used the same “stamping off” process using Old Olive. The images were cut using the corresponding dies. “Happy Birthday” was stamped with Orchid Oasis. I used dimensionals for the flower and glued down the leaves. Ribbon is wrapped around the white layer and tied in a bow. This piece was then glued to the Mango Melody layer. Dimensionals were used to attach it to the embossed layer.
There are many options when creating this card depending on your craft supplies as well as your crafting experience. Below you will find more inspiration using this same layout. One does not include embossing or die cutting. One is made using just dies for the image. One is stamped and fussy cut and one is just stamped (using the masking technique)! So many options!!
